Introduction to Neuromuscular Rehabilitation

This course is an introduction to Neurologic rehab and will provide a general overview of anatomy and physiology of the nervous system as well as pediatric neurologic diseases and dysfunction will be provided. Diagnoses which will be addressed during this course will include Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Autism, and others. Principles and concepts pertaining to sensation, perception, motor development, motor control, and neuro re-education for the pediatric patient will be examined.  The lab portion of the course will allow application of assessment techniques, data collection, and previously learned skills to pediatric patients with neurological diagnoses.
